It does not seem to fit with the numbers beginning with P unless I am looking at the list wrong.

Selmer Paris clarinet serial numbers are either a plain number up to four figures long and then a letter prefix followed by a number, usually up to four figures long (eg. A1234) - the serial number is stamped by the C#/G# tonehole on the top joint and on the lower joint above the tenon.

Selmer London clarinet serial numbers depend on whether it's a French, Italian, Czechoslovakian or Chinese clarinet.

Selmer USA clarinet serial numbers go into the millions (eg. 1002345) and the serial number is usually stamped on the top joint by the C#/G# tonehole.

If you could post a photo of the clarinet in question, then we will be able to determine which Selmer it is.

One more try here. The clarinet has no markings other than the serial number.
OK, it is saying the file is too big to add as an attachment, I have the picture in "My Pictures" on the computer, how can I get it on here?

No markings other than serial number. What makes you think it's a Selmer? If it's a Paris Selmer it'll have markings indicating that. Is it wood?

See if you can reduce the photo by 50% and try again.

OK, last try, then I give up! My tech savvy son is not here!

That's a Selmer USA clarinet - same model of clarinet as a Bundy or a Signet.

Thanks Chris. Hopefully worth the $50 I paid for it!

If it's in playable condition, $50 was a good price. Bundys in rough condition go for a little as $35. One cleaned up and with tight pads will usually go for more.

Chris: You mentioned Selmer USA clarinet serial numbers. Are you aware of a good cyber-resource for Selmer USA serial numbers and manufacturing years? Many tnx.

Conn-Selmer used to publish serial number lists on their site, but the site has since been scrapped like so many others since the company has yet again changed management.

Chris -

If you have the URL for the site that used to show the serial numbers, you might be able to find the information by going to the Internet Archive http://archive.org/web/web.php.

Found it:

Unfortunately they don't have the serial number listings for Selmer USA instruments.

That it is a Bundy student clarinet. Has no link to "Selmer Paris" other than the name having the same spelling.

Probably from the mid to late '80s if the serial number is in the 1000000 mark.
